RECREATIONAL SPORT AND ACTIVITIES AT HARTPURY
Sport and activity at Hartpury can be just for fun! You don’t have to be playing at the highest level or have aspirations to make our senior squads to play sport and get active.
There’s rugby and football at recreational level as well as opportunities to play golf, netball, badminton, basketball, hockey, volleyball and many more! There are often around 20 sports teams representing Hartpury competing on Wednesday afternoons.
All students benefit from our exceptional sports facilities and we offer a packed programme of fitness and fun activities both on and off campus, called Hartpury Active, to help boost our students’ wellbeing too!
What sports and fitness classes are available?
The Hartpury Active programme offers a wide variety of sports and fitness classes for you to choose from. We run team sports such as five-a-side football, girls’ football, netball, Ultimate Frisbee and hockey, as well as drop-in sessions in basketball, tennis, cheerleading and badminton.
Some of our fitness classes include circuits, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), female gym and our running club – so there really is something for everyone!
What do I need to take part?
Most of our Hartpury Active Programme is free of charge – but some of the fitness classes cost £1.
Many of our sessions don’t need any particular clothing – wear what you feel comfy in (as long as the coaches say it is safe to do so). Then, you just turn up at the activity with your student card as often or little as you like – it’s simple!
Other sports facilities available on campus or through partnerships with local sports clubs include: GL1 Leisure Centre and Swimming Complex in Gloucester, South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre, Cross Country Course and Gallops (off campus), Seven Indoor and Outdoor Equine Arenas (on campus), Golf Driving Range (on campus), Newent Hockey Club and Oxstalls Tennis Centre in Gloucester.
